What is Tartar?

Dental implants in London
Tartar is also known as calculus which is a form of hardened dental plaque. Tartar is different from plaque which is caused by bacteria on the teeth but usually they are present in the mouths of people. Plaque is responsible for forming the tartar because the plaque will have a rough surface so that it is easy to build up more plaque on it.

While tartar refers to sticky substance on the teeth, it hardens both above and below the gums of the teeth. Formation of tartar above the gum is

called  supragingival and the formation of tartar below the gum is called as subgingival.

This sticky substance will tend to formation of yellow and brown stains on teeth. Once these stains are formed it is difficult to remove because those stains are so hard and removed with the help of dentist only. Dentist will use some tartar related tools and specialized sharp equipments in order to remove the tartar on your teeth whenever you visit the teeth.

If you are unable to get rid of those stains on your teeth, you have to face problems like gum diseases, receding gums, bad breath etc.

What Is Address Munging

Address munging is the practice of disguising, also known as munging, an e-mail address to prevent it from being automatically collected and used as a target for people and organizations who send unsolicited bulk e-mail. Address munging is intended to disguise an e-mail address in a way that prevents computer software from seeing the real address, or even any address at all, but still allows a human reader to reconstruct the original and contact the author: an email address such as, "no-body@example.com", becomes "no-body at example dot com", for instance. Any e-mail address posted in public is likely to be automatically collected by computer software used by bulk emailers — a process known as e-mail address harvesting — and addresses posted on webpages, Usenet or chat rooms are particularly vulnerable to this. Private e-mail sent between individuals is highly unlikely to be collected, but e-mail sent to a mailing list that is archived and made available via the web or passed onto a Usenet news server and made public, may eventually be scanned and collected.

Disguising addresses makes it all the more difficult for people to send e-mail to each other. Many see it as an attempt to fix a symptom rather than solving the real problem of e-mail spam, at the expense of causing problems for innocent users. However, legitimate replies may be lost by this technique. If the email address is not the user's true email id, then it should be a completely invalid one otherwise some other server or address may get the spam for it. Disguising e-mail address in a systematic manner (for example, user[at]domain[dot]com), is just as bad as not disguising the address at all as such addresses can be revealed through a simple Google Search. Transparent address munging is another method used where in the actual email address is obfuscated from automated email harvesters, by displaying all or part of the email on a web page as an image, a text logo shrunken to normal size using automated CSS, or as a jumbled text with the order of the letters restored with CSS. Building the link by client-side scripting using server-side scripting to run a contact form.

5 Top Captions for a Tech Geek’s T-Shirt

If you are a tech geek and want to show the world how savvy you are towards technology, the only way (or one of the ways) is to get these captions on your T-shirts. There is no need to be shy of being a geek any more because, geeks rule.
  1. e = MC2 : Of course the famous mass-energy equivalence from the greatest scientist ever on the world - Albert Einstein. This equation is so famous that you need not be a geek really in order to bear this caption on your T-Shirt.
  2. There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary and those who don’t: So if you are asking where the other 8 types are, then you are not worth bearing this caption. Every geek knows ‘10’ = ‘2’ in binary.
  3. DOS: The Microsoftwear: No, this is not definitely another brand of apparel from Microsoft, but this caption holds you as a super-fan of Microsoft.
  4. Googling Around! Another funky caption for a geek whose day is not a day without googling.
  5. Apple : Micorsoft :: #N : ctrl-C: This might seem to be the proportionality formula over Apple and Micorsoft. The underlying thing in this caption is that Apple creates new while Microsoft copies.

Is the recession over?

After passing through such a drastic period of recession, people are still enthusiastic to know if the recession is over. As you can see that there are much hype on layoffs, surging unemployment rate, inflation rates, etc. in the news, can we assume it’s over or atleast slowed down a bit?

The chiefs of two central banks of US and UK said that their country’s economies have emerged out of recession. Mervyn King, the Governor of the Bank of England and Ben Bernanke, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve, have given the good news in separate statements.

According to Mr. King – “the British economy was growing again”. And Bernanke says that “there are now signs that growth has resumed”. However, he also added that the symptoms and the weakness are going to stay for a little while.

Though, none of them says that recession is over, their statements signal that the economies are no longer under it.

Lithium Inefficient as Batteries for Hybrid Cars

The hype of lithium batteries for hybrid cars might not remain the same for a long time. Toyota Motor Corp is testing on lithium batteries since three years for its hybrid cars. And the test results come out unfavorable for the costly lithium. They conducted their tests with the popular Toyota Priuses, one of the best hybrid cars in the market. After the test results they seem to be using nickel instead of the lithium-ion batteries, in their hybrid cars.

However, the durability of nickel batteries might still need to be checked. It seems that Toyota is all on its way to help its customers to buy these hybrid cars at cheaper prices. The current prices of hybrid cars or cars that run on batteries are far cheaper compared to regular cars. It is obviously the cost of the batteries that make them so expensive.

Its good news for the people trying to buy hybrid cars…but what about those major companies that are all set to sell their lithium-ion based cars?

Ford’s Taurus To Release With Fighter Jet Technology

The Ford is all set to release its Taurus with fighter jet technology. Is it going to help the Ford to redefine itself or is it going to redefine the entire auto industry?

I didn’t understand why Ford selected Taurus – a discontinued model because of its low sales. They could have got another model out.

However, this car with fighter jet technology is going to rock on the roads as the "America's smartest full-sized sedan". But this technology is not meant to accelerate the car to jet speed but to extend the security features of a car.

The all new Taurus contains radar devices that sound alarm and blink flashing red lights as soon as the driver gets too close to another car. Thus, it helps to avoid crashes. This technology is called the F22 radar technology. Guessed right! This is the same technology used in F22 fighter jet planes.

I2R Launches A New Language Translator

A*Star's Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) has launched a prototype translation program, which has potential as an add-on service for portable devices and mobile phones in future. It took three years for the Institute to design the software in the first phase of its development.

It is a combined effort of the 8 countries of the Asian Speech Translation Advanced Research Consortium that was founded by China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea and Thailand in 2006. Singapore and Vietnam joined the consortium in 2008.

The consortium expects to bring in few more countries as it proceeds into the second phase of the project. This would let the Institute to add more languages and expand the use of the program.

Li Haizhou, department head of human language technology at I2R, said the program could be installed Java enabled device as software, similar to Skype. Internet connection is necessary as it is a network-based translation system that connects to the servers located in each participating country. These servers will act as "translation centers" where each member country handles a certain language

How to become popular?

Develop your people skills and be popular. All the popular people share a common character, people skills.

Step out of your comfort zone. Popular people generally make conversations, crack jokes, flirt, in fact they are always engaged in doing something. If you are a shy kind of person, you must be brave to come out of your situation and prepare to be bold. You must be friendly to be popular. Always be ready to start a conversation be it friends or strangers. Always keep a smile on your face. Stay away from controversial topics and be polite.

Do not think about yourself. Do not worry about how you look, how you dress, how you sound and how you judge. Always try to look from others point of view. Try to relate the topics you talk to them, make them involve in what you do. Always try to encourage others to talk.

Try to be others helping hand. Do not ignore what other people say, listen to them carefully, and try to help as much as you can. Do not be selfish. Respect the other people’s feelings; make them feel comfortable while sharing their feelings. If you cannot help them in anyway, at least tell them that you are with them.

Be yourself do not try too hard. If you cannot say or do anything nice, don’t say or do it. Avoid negative gossip.

Sternlicht's $100 Million Luxury Hotel Firm

The founder and CEO of Starwood Hotels, Barry Sternlicht, is into raising a hefty amount to start a new luxury brand in hospitality industry.

What amuses me here is that how can a person raise such a big amount of money all by himself? I agree that he is the founder of one of the largest hotel companies, which has around 930 franchised properties, and 155,000 employees; but I don’t think he can do all by himself with just that image.

By the way, he is looking for around $100 million in order to set up a new luxury hotel firm that can develop and handle assets under the name of a luxury brand.

At present, he was successful in convincing his present Starwood Capital investor – the Oregon Investment Council, to invest a $5 million into this. Oregon is expecting a good income for this firm in the form of licensing fees for use of its brands, hotel management fees; also in the form of equity invested in some of the hotels by Starwood Hotels group.

Good confidence levels…

Technology Introduces Pen-Translator to the World

Technology is changing everyday and very rapidly. It is providing us all those gadgets which humans of a century ago couldn’t even imagine of it.

So, this time we have a machine translator in the size of not bigger than any ordinary pen.
This is named as Iris Pen translator and is said to work at a speed of recognizing 3.15 inches or 8 cm per second and also retyping 1,000 characters per second (Iris Pen Express) and is obtained at a compatibility of scanning and recognizing 128 languages. And what is great with this thing is that it is USB powered and doesn’t require any battery.

The Esquire Technologies is the distributor of this pen. This pen is available in three models IRIS Pen Executive 6, IRIS Pen Translator 6, IRIS Pen Express 6. The compatibility and speed and even price, varies from model to model.

But no machine can ever be equal to a manual translator.
