What is a Buckwheat Pillow?

Buckwheat is a natural, inexpensive and renewable resource. Buckwheat pillows are filled with natural buckwheat hulls instead of down feathers, fiberfill or foam. Many people prefer these pillows because of their comfort, and hypoallergenic properties.

These pillows can be used as a regular pillow or it is often recommended to people having neck pain, back pain, muscle pain, and snoring problem as well. It provides excellent support for the head, neck and back because the hulls contour to the weight and shape of the body during sleep.

It provides natural air circulation between individual hulls, resulting in ideal temperatures for peaceful sleeping. Buckwheat pillows have become a staple cushion for yoga students, but they are found mainstream as well.

Buckwheat pillows are not only available in standard bed pillow but also available in full-body sizes.
These pillows can also be used as keyboard wrist rests, eye pillows, travel pillows, and neck-rolls.  Some buckwheat pillows are having a fragrance of herbs, such as lavender and chamomile so that you can feel a aromatherapy.

Many healthcare professionals started recommending a buckwheat pillow to patients suffering from such conditions as migraines, snoring, insomnia and menopausal night sweats.

Some people are allergenic to buckwheat pillows because the hulls inside those pillows are not of good quality. So consider only the hull that is roasted.

A good quality buckwheat pillow can last for 7-10 years with proper care. The outside cotton cover should be washed regularly, but do not wash the pillow itself. Instead, the buckwheat pillow should be set in direct sunlight for a few hours once every two months or so.
