In most of the English speaking countries, one of the second languages definitely include Spanish. So, better to take it as a second language in the high school level. After graduation, you can obtain a Bachelor's Degree from Spanish. If you wish you can also opt for Masters in Spanish. At this phase you will be exposed to Spanish literature and conversational Spanish along with your basic and advanced Spanish. This kind of linguistics and Spanish grammar help you understand how to structure the language which is the key for translation.

Experience is all what is required by every company that offers employment opportunities for Spanish translators. Since every company looks for it, it is better to go for some internship programs with few local organizations. If you are interested you can also work like an interpreter, whose duty is to translate verbal Spanish or the words of a speaker. If could be a real time interpretation or of a recorded thing. This kind of experiences help you in gaining some practical knowledge and also make you ready for the job.

Since there is no National certification which includes Spanish translation, it is better to write the exam conducted by the American translators Association, which offers a certification as a translator. However, both experience and college education in Spanish is required to attend this exam.
