Patio heaters serve well to ensure warmth outdoors in winters. They can be placed in your terrace, garden, patio or other outdoor area of a hotel or restaurant. However, they can also be used for indoor home heating. You have a wide range of choices for a patio heater. One important thing to be considered about a patio heater is its installation. An improper installation can pose many hazards and damages. So, it's better to know how to install a patio heater when planning to purchase one for your home or hotel.

  • Choosing a right place is the first thing you need to do to install a patio heater. Prefer a flat surface that bears the weight of the heater to ensure that it does not tilt and fall down. When choosing a hanging patio heater, measure the space properly. It should be hanged at a moderate height and make sure that they are not at head-height
  • Certain heaters may be associated with potential fire hazard. Hence, you need to ensure that it is installed in a safe place away from combustibles including bushes, climbing ivy or plastic piping. Specific building codes which allow you to place a patio heater in your garden, should also be followed. So, make necessary changes accordingly to follow them.
  • Clear the area you wish to install the heater. Do not keep the heater in a space which does not have a covering as the heat may get lost.
  • Drill holes for the hanging patio heater and screw the heater into them properly. Use plastic anchors in the wall to hold the screws more securely and prevent the heater from falling.
  • Consider the requirements of power supply. Ensure that the lines for electricity or gas are far away from the top of the heater. Maintain proper insulation elements to avoid risks of a leak, or a shock or fire hazard.
